Ford has been on an innovation marathon when it comes to technology in their vehicles. The Ford Escape, in Titanium trim, was tested with FoMoCo’s FordPass smartphone app. This app allows you to control the power locks and ignition from your iPhone. It also gives you real-time alerts on your Ford Escape’s vital fluids. Can’t remember when it’s due for another oil change? Don’t worry – be ‘appy’. The Escape will tell you and give you peace of mind if a mechanical issue can wait or needs urgent attention. It can even allow you to scan for the nearest parking space or garage, and you can reserve it using the app.

If wanting to escape, know Ford’s front-wheel-drive system is pretty capable when the pavement turns to nature. I drove the Escape Titanium on the intermediate offroad course and had no issues at all. Steady throttle control kept the wheels turning and pulled me right up the loose, rock-covered hill.

The price range for the Ford Escape starts in the low $20’s and tops out at less than $35,000; in short, there is a wide variety of trim levels to choose from. In Ford tradition, the Escape can be optioned to fit your needs: AWD, different engines, larger wheels, tow packages, and technology packages are available to build your Escape into any escape mechanism you might want. One improvement over the previous model is the interior quality. The old Escape’s interior used plastics that felt rough to the touch and cheap. I’m glad to see Ford recognized the issue and fixed it.
