For 2011 Volkswagen has reinvented the Jetta, for better or worse. For 2011 the Jetta is bigger, wider, longer but also cheaper. How did VW do this? Well the suspension components are cheaper and an older design than the previous generation. The quality of materials inside the car is also cheaper than that of the previous generation. It’s hard to see how this is a winning combination but Volkswagen has already seen lots of success with in sales with the new Jetta.

So how did it drive? It was fine. It drove about as well as a Kia Optima or a Chevrolet Malibu, it just didn’t feel special. The looks are okay, but not as outgoing as the Kia and the interior is okay, but not as nice as new Ford or even Hyundai cars that compete with the Jetta. So it’s an okay car, but doesn’t seem as special as its growing competition.

Thanks to our friends at Non-Stock Photography for the photos.

Car was driven and reviewed by Adam Moore at the Texas Auto Roundup in conjunction with the Texas Auto Writers Association.

Today, I was galavanting about the big city with nothing better to do than waste some time. As Brittany was getting her massage, 8 months after it was gifted to her, I had some free time on my hands.

I headed over to a close and pretty new shopping center that seems to be generating a lot of busyness around my house. I wasn’t paying much attention to anything besides the clock until my friend and I walked out of our last stop. He suddenly stops and points to my left. In our close circle of friends, we love cars and often use the “follow the finger” trick.

As I look down his left hand, I saw something I didn’t expect to see for another few months: a 2010 Shelby GT500! Being the Mustang enthusiast that I claim to be, I knew the 2010 GT’s were already out and had even seen a few of them, but I had no idea the GT500’s were on the street.

This wasn’t just any GT500 though. This was one of the most beautiful colors I personally believe Ford made the mustang in: Grabber Blue. I may be wrong, but the only time I’ve ever seen this color is in the early 70’s Mach 1’s.

We quickly made my way over and snapped a couple pics while peering through the windows. We took note of the few minor changes from the previous Shelby’s and made our way back to the truck as it was parked in the closest possible parking spot to the full glass building with the owner sure right inside watching us getting way to close to their car.

Just as we pull out, we see the GB GT500 driving off and quickly roll down our windows to listen to the low, quiet grumble of the finely tuned Shelby exhaust. We quickly chase them down to get a closer look. Right as we get about as close as we can get without totally freakin’ out the driver, we both realize the same thing at the same time. This just isn’t any GT500 owner, this is quite possibly the coolest girl in the world! We sat in awe for a moment, then got back to reality and realized what we had just seen was awesome and a car I won’t soon forget…at least until I see the next one.
