The Texas based tuning shop turned auto manufacturer that has built the insane 1,200-hp super car called the Venom GT is now chopping the roof off. Hennessey, this week, showed photos of the new Spyder edition of the Hennessey Venom GT. This car has the same 1,200-hp twin-turbo V8, but now has millions of miles of headroom.

From the photos it looks like you still have a roll bar along the roofline to keep rigidity. Hennessey’s CEO Don Goldman said, “With the hardtop removed, the wind and the growl of the twin-turbo V8 will offer our clients an even greater driving sensation.”

Jesse James Wrecks Supercar in Austin

Jesse James Hennessey GT1000

Jesse James Hennessey GT1000

A few days ago we saw the headline of a Ford GT crashed into the backyard of a residence in in Austin. Jalopnik has done some digging and has all but confirmed that this Ford GT is Jesse James’ 1000 hp Hennessey GT. They have recently got a quote from the Hennessey shop saying, “We’ve built a couple of vehicles for Jesse including our GT1000 twin turbo upgrade on his Ford GT. It’s nice to know that Jesse drives his Hennessey GT hard enough to find the limit. After all, if you don’t crash or break every now and then, you’re not going fast enough.”

Yes this is one reason we love the guys at Hennessey, but more to the point, was this Jesse James’ GT, and if so was he driving. Read what Jalopnik has uncovered and judge for yourself until we get more facts.

This week our friends at Hennessey Performance released a new video of their VelociRaptor 600. As you should already know Hennessey has been working on this monster of a truck since the Raptor hit the market. Hennessey EcoBoost 435

Hennessey MaxBoost 435

Last week, Toby reviewed for us the 2010 Lincoln MKS with the EcoBoost and AWD, and we all agree that we loved this car. This week Hennessey Performance, out of Houston, Texas, has revealed their own incarnation of the 2010 MKS EcoBoost calling it their MaxBoost 435. What Hennessey has done here is tinker with the engine management software, added their own cat-back exhaust, dual cold air induction system, and a polished intercooler piping upgrade. All this results in, yeah you guessed it, 435 hp and 405 lb-ft of torque pushing this heavy luxury sedan from a standstill to 60 mph in 4.5 seconds and takes only 13 seconds to hit 106 and cross a quarter mile mark. These upgrades make the MKS comparable in power to big shots like the BMW M5 and Maserati Quattroporte, but without suspension or braking upgrades you better be going in a strait line. Hennessey VelociRaptor 500

The Boys at Hennessey must be getting bored with 1,000 horsepower monster cars because today they announced their new monster truck, the VelociRaptor 500. That’s right, Hennessey Performance has taken a Ford F150 Raptor and bolted a Whipple supercharger on the already stout 5.4 liter V8. This fearse Raptor now produces 501 HP and 520 lbs-ft of torque at 9.1 pounds of boost. They also added a K&N intake, stainless steel exhaust and headers, tuned the ECU, and upgraded fuel injectors. Now look for the VelociRaptor to hit 60 in a staggering 5.6 seconds. Continue reading

Texas Tuner Torches Cover of Corvette Magazine

Hennessey ZR700

Hennessey ZR700

The March 2010 issue of Corvette Magazine will feature the Torch Red Hennessey ZR700, quoting “The ZR700 idles and drives like a standard ZR1 at sane speeds, but when I finally got the chance to roll into the throttle hard, the Corvette really came alive.”

Hennessey has taken the already spectacular ZR1 and gave it an extra kick in the backside giving the LS9 power plant some extra thrust. We are talking 705hp and 717 lb-ft torque, and that’s just the beginning. Hennessey is also making available a ZR750 package with, yep you guessed it 750hp! Continue reading

Update: Hennessey’s LS9 Camaro SS w/Video

Hennessey HPE700

Hennessey HPE700

Today we got to see new video of the overly insane project Hennessey has been working on. The first dyno pull to make it to YouTube with speaker busting exhaust notes and all. If you’ll take a second to remember why this project is so… well awesome, here you have a 2010 Camaro with a modified LS9 V8 engine named the Hennessey HPE700. LS9 you say? Yes that would be the same engine found in the ZR-1 Corvette, only finding a new home. With 645 HP at the rear wheels and 653 lb-ft of torque this monster will hang with the best of them. Again this is the first dyno we know about so more tuning may come. No word yet on when the project will be finished and what the planned price for the package will be but trust me, we are all ears.

Our buddies at Hennessy announced a few years ago that they would be building a supercar of their own. Going from a tuning shop to producing your own supercar doesn’t happen overnight and now almost two years after their announcement they are telling us the car will be debuting at the Geneva Motor Show in March 2010.

If you have been following the Venom GT you know it was supposed to be powered by the Viper V10, as Hennessey has a good relation with the Viper brand. We also heard that it would be weighing in at 2700 lbs with a 1,000 horsepower ratting. Now we are hearing a little different, but better, story. Hennessey is now saying that the Venom GT will be powered by a “Hennessey V8” the weight is down to 2400 lbs and horsepower is up to 1,200 bhp. This spectacular looking mid-engine supercar will be able to deliver the goods, but will it make a real splash within the supercar world? That we’ll just have to wait and see…
