Embracing Freedom: A Journey with the 2023 Jeep Wrangler 4xe Rubicon 20th Anniversary

The Jeep Wrangler has long been an iconic symbol of ruggedness, freedom, and adventure. Known for its unyielding spirit and off-road prowess, the Wrangler has become the vehicle of choice for those seeking to break free from societal norms. In this video, we dive into the world of the Jeep Wrangler 4xe, a plug-in hybrid version of the legendary off-roader that combines traditional Jeep ruggedness with the benefits of electrification.

The Jeep Wrangler 4xe represents a new chapter in the brand’s history, introducing a plug-in hybrid powertrain to the iconic vehicle. This electrified version shares its technology with the Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe and gives a glimpse of what Jeep’s future might hold with upcoming fully electric vehicles.

The Wrangler 4xe is available in four distinct trims: Willys, Sahara, Rubicon, and High Altitude. Our focus in this review is the 4xe Rubicon, particularly the 20th-anniversary edition. Commemorating two decades of trail-rated innovation and incredible adventures, the 20th-anniversary edition comes with exclusive features, including a 0.5-inch lift in suspension, 33-inch tires with 17-inch black bead-lock wheels, and stylish graphics paying homage to the Rubicon Trail.

Though the Wrangler’s exterior hasn’t seen significant changes since 2017, the 20th-anniversary edition brings distinctive touches that set it apart from other trims. This model boasts a steel bumper with a grill guard, blue tow hooks, redesigned grille, and unique 20th-anniversary graphics. The combination of silver paint and blue accents exudes a striking and purposeful look.

Inside the Wrangler 4xe Rubicon, the sporty and functional design continues with black and red Nappa leather seats adorned with the Rubicon nameplate. The cabin features an 8.4-inch touchscreen display equipped with the Uconnect 4C infotainment system, which provides various functionalities, including Off-Road Pages displaying crucial metrics for off-road driving.

The Wrangler 4xe offers a driving experience like no other. With its plug-in hybrid powertrain combining a 2.0-liter turbocharged engine and an electric motor, the vehicle delivers 375 horsepower and 470 lb-ft of torque. The instant torque from the electric motor is particularly beneficial for off-road adventures, making rock crawling and overcoming obstacles a breeze. Additionally, the 4xe allows for all-electric driving, providing up to 21 miles of pure electric range.

Electrification brings several benefits to the Wrangler 4xe, making it not only an eco-friendly choice but also a practical one. The vehicle can be charged using a Level 1 or Level 2 charger, offering flexibility for charging at home or on the go. The silent electric mode provides a serene and peaceful experience during off-road excursions, allowing drivers to immerse themselves in nature without the noise of an internal combustion engine.

The Jeep Wrangler 4xe Rubicon 20th-anniversary edition comes with a starting MSRP of approximately $81,000. While it may seem pricey, it offers an unparalleled blend of off-road capability, electrification, and everyday drivability. In comparison, the Ford Bronco Raptor, a notable competitor, comes at a similar price point but caters to those who seek a more contemporary appearance.

The Jeep Wrangler 4xe Rubicon 20th-anniversary edition stands as a remarkable vehicle that perfectly embodies adventure, freedom, and electrification. Its combination of ruggedness and modern technology sets it apart in the automotive world. Whether tackling challenging off-road trails or cruising on urban streets, the Wrangler 4xe offers an exceptional driving experience like no other.
