Rivian’s Dallas Showroom – SHOW. AND GO.
Rivian’s Dallas Showroom
SHOW. AND GO.
For the thousands (hundred of thousands?) of you wanting to opt out of Tesla ownership, you could do far worse than considering the lineup from Rivian. While – at present – the company offers but two models, a large SUV and similarly-sized pickup, the Rivian menu is about to expand – as referenced by Harold in his overview – with smaller, more accessible models. The EV industry’s not exactly a bed of roses at the moment, but Rivian shows no signs of fading from the marketplace. And with a showroom in Dallas, you can get behind the wheel, while imagining yourself gliding effortlessly over the next 84 monthlies! – DB
Rivian, the luxury EV brand from Normal, Illinois, has a lot to offer, including three battery packs to fit the customer’s needs. Beyond the specs, and perhaps more important to a prospective customer, is a new Dallas showroom at 3010 Knox Street; the showroom phone is 972.499.5051.
On a short test drive I enjoyed high-tech features and great performance. The handling was excellent, and the ride very comfortable. Pricing for the RS1 starts at $75,900 and jumps to $99,900 for the dual tri-Motor Max Pack battery. The dual-motor has 533 horsepower, 610 lb-ft of torque; that combo will get to 60 in 4.5 seconds. The Quad Motor has 1,025 hp (!), 1,198 lb-ft of torque (!!) and goes from 0 to 60 in less than 2.5 seconds (!!!). There are many combinations to select from so visiting a showroom (perhaps with a tranquilizer – ed.) is recommended.
The exterior is subject to one’s taste and is different than most large SUVs on the market today. Some model configurations can be purchased in as little as six days. However, special orders can take as long as an estimated six to twelve weeks.
Inside, the RS1’s interior is well laid out and crisp-looking. Craftsmanship is outstanding and the dash is well organized. The Infotainment system is well-positioned and easy to use but the steering wheel knobs are small and hard to get used to.
The R1T truck starts at $75,900 and tops out at around $105,900. I felt the truck had lots of features…and its storage bin that will hold a golf bag was genius. The color pallet for the Rivian skews toward bland, but there is a color option called Canyon Red, and it looks great on both vehicles – but costs an extra $2,500. Standard AWD makes a Rivian platform great for areas with weather issues.
Rivian offers a battery charging option and it’s well worth it. There are so many combinations to choose from, it’s almost mind-boggling and too many to list. Down the road, there will be the Rivian R3, a smaller version, with more accessible pricing for most customers. Its availability begins in 2026.
