When thinking of the old iconic 60’s AC Cobra, the Viper doesn’t often jump into your head. But when Chrysler was developing the Viper, that’s exactly what they were thinking about. As a matter of fact, Shelby himself was heavily involved in the initial design of the Viper.
As a kid growing up in the 90’s, the Viper was a car to lust after. The styling is beautiful and simplistic, much like the power and engineering. With a V10 engine pushing 400 horsepower, in 1992, and no traction control to speak of, simplistic is the right word.
The Viper was killed off this year, and work that was being developed for the next generation Viper became the Mercedes SLS. Now though, chief executive Sergio Marchionne has announced that they are working on a redesign Viper for 2012. Can’t wait to see what they come up with!
