2016 BMW M4 Coupe: The One and Only

The only M4 finished in a BMW Individual bespoke ‘FERRARI RED’ paint job in the U.S.A.

BMW of Houston North offers the very first and only North American BMW M4 coupe finished in ‘Ferrari Red’ BMW Individual Paint. BMW’s ‘Ferrari Red’ is identical to Ferrari’s “Rosso Corsa”, a special bespoke paint option offered by BMW Individual with a U.S. price of $5,000.00.

The 2016 BMW M4 has a starting MSRP of $65,400.00, exclusive of the destination charge. This almost fully-loaded Ferrari Red BMW M4 has an MSRP of $95,375.00(!), with $28,980.00 in options. These include the ‘Ferrari Red’ Individual paint, M-Performance exhaust, M-Performance carbon fiber exhaust tips, the Lighting package (includes full-adaptive LED headlights), full Merino leather interior, Drivers Assistance package, Executive package, seven speed M-DCT Double Clutch Transmission, Adaptive M-Suspension, 19” black alloy wheels, power rear window shade, enhanced Bluetooth and smartphone technology, black kidney grills, carbon fiber mirror caps, carbon fiber gear-shift selector, carbon fiber center console cover, black lower rocker panel blades, wheel locks and the $995.00 destination charge. Here we pause to take an intermission…

The only available factory options absent from this M4 are the Ultrasonic Parking Assistant, the M-Carbon ceramic brakes and the no-charge moonroof option. Opting for the moonroof deletes the standard carbon fiber roof. HINT: Keep the carbon fiber roof, skip the moonroof. If you want to see the moon, buy a top floor condo.

The 2016 BMW M4 is offered in a variety of exterior colors. The standard color palette: Sakhir Orange Metallic, Austin Yellow Metallic, Yas Marina Blue Metallic, Mineral Grey Metallic, Black Sapphire Metallic, Silverstone Metallic, Mineral White Metallic and Alpine White(non-metallic). Alpine White is the one color that BMW offers at no additional cost; metallic colors are optional at $550.00. Standard BMW Individual colors are Tanzanite Blue Metallic, Smoke Topaz Metallic, Azurite Black Metallic and Champagne Quartz Metallic, with a $1,950.00 surcharge. The BMW M4 is also available in Individual special-order matte finishes for $5,000.00: Frozen White, Frozen Black, Frozen Red and Frozen Silver. BMW has also produced at least one M4 unit in ‘Grigio Medio’ grey, another Ferrari exclusive paint color.

BMW’s M4 is powered by a TwinPower twin-turbo 3.0 liter inline six that produces 425 horsepower at 5,500 RPM and 406 lb-ft of torque at 1,850 RPM. DCT transmission-equipped M4s (like this one) accelerate from 0-60 in 3.9 seconds, while 6-speed manual M4s take 4.1 seconds to accelerate to the same speed. Assisting with either rapid rate are various lightweight components, such as the aforementioned carbon fiber roof. The M4 also comes with aluminum control arms, a forged single-piece magnesium crankshaft, a carbon fiber engine strut brace, a carbon fiber trunk lid, an integrated carbon fiber trunk spoiler and a carbon fiber rear diffuser. And a personal observation: The carbon fiber engine strut brace is an absolute work of art.

Equipped with the seven-speed DCT dual clutch transmission, BMW’s M4 has a curb weight of 3,585 pounds. With its 10.2:1 compression ratio it, of course, runs on premium unleaded fuel. (And if you live in the Houston area you probably own your own oil company.) The M4 (thankfully) is offered only in rear wheel drive, and enjoys and/or suffers an electronically-limited top speed of 156 MPH. Regrettably, Ferrari of Houston does not offer legal services, but then, the buyer may have his or her own law firm…or has paid off the sheriff.
