IONIQ 5 N Roars on the Nürburgring: Hyundai N Unleashes Electrifying Power

Last year, Hyundai invited us out to a proper racetrack where we took out the Elantra N, Veloster N, Kona N, and got to drive the Ioniq 5 for the first time. Driving the N cars from Hyundai really proves that they’re focused on making the best technology that’s able to last under pressure. Now we see the Ioniq 5 getting its own N variant and I’m really excited about it.

Hyundai Motor Company is gearing up for the world premiere of its highly anticipated IONIQ 5 N, the first all-electric model under the N brand, by putting it through rigorous testing at Germany’s legendary Nürburgring racing circuit. The Nürburgring is where Hyundai’s N models are refined to perfection, and the IONIQ 5 N is no exception.

Combining Hyundai Motor’s Electrified-Global Modular Platform (E-GMP) with N’s motorsport-inspired technologies, the IONIQ 5 N aims to embody N’s three key performance pillars: Corner Rascal, Racetrack Capability, and Everyday Sportscar. This fusion of expertise ensures that the high-performance electric vehicle delivers an exhilarating driving experience without compromising on its electric capabilities.

To achieve optimal performance, Hyundai Motor has leveraged the strengths of its Namyang R&D Center in South Korea and its European Test Center at the Nürburgring. By maintaining a dedicated presence at the track, Hyundai’s N team of engineers can continuously evaluate and enhance the durability and driving dynamics of their vehicles more efficiently.

Till Wartenberg, Vice President and Head of N Brand & Motorsport at Hyundai Motor Company, expressed the significance of the Nürburgring in shaping the IONIQ 5 N’s capabilities. He stated, “The Nürburgring is where every N model is honed to the Nth degree, so our first high-performance, all-electric N model must also prove itself here.” Having recently completed a demanding 10,000 km durability test on the Nordschleife, the IONIQ 5 N has demonstrated its endurance and racetrack prowess. However, Hyundai’s relentless pursuit of excellence led them to embark on a second 10,000 km test, pushing the limits of the IONIQ 5 N even further.

Excitement surrounding the IONIQ 5 N continues to build as Hyundai plans for its grand unveiling at the upcoming Goodwood Festival of Speed. Hyundai’s N brand will showcase the IONIQ 5 N at an exclusive N stand, and attendees will have the opportunity to witness its impressive performance during hill climb demonstrations.
