Jesse James Hennessey GT1000

A few days ago we saw the headline of a Ford GT crashed into the backyard of a residence in in Austin. Jalopnik has done some digging and has all but confirmed that this Ford GT is Jesse James’ 1000 hp Hennessey GT. They have recently got a quote from the Hennessey shop saying, “We’ve built a couple of vehicles for Jesse including our GT1000 twin turbo upgrade on his Ford GT. It’s nice to know that Jesse drives his Hennessey GT hard enough to find the limit. After all, if you don’t crash or break every now and then, you’re not going fast enough.”

Yes this is one reason we love the guys at Hennessey, but more to the point, was this Jesse James’ GT, and if so was he driving. Read what Jalopnik has uncovered and judge for yourself until we get more facts.

FlashBack with the 8 Series:

the BMW 850CSi

I truly think that the BMW 8 Series is one of the most under-rated GT supercars out there. When talking to a group of people about great GT cars and future classics of the automotive world, the 8 Series never comes up. Why is that?

The E31, or 8 series, BMW was introduced in 1989 as a 2+2, 2 door coupe. The 8 series replaced the original 6 series coupe from the 80’s but was not made to be a successor to the 6 series. Rather the 8 series was designed as a whole new offering to compete with the Mercedes-Benz SL-Class. The all new 8 series was set off to be the new flagship car for BMW with a premium price tag, M1 looks, and a slew of new technology. The price tag today, adjusting for inflation, would be over $110,000 which is well above even the M6 of today.

Hennessey Venom GT

Our buddies at Hennessy announced a few years ago that they would be building a supercar of their own. Going from a tuning shop to producing your own supercar doesn’t happen overnight and now almost two years after their announcement they are telling us the car will be debuting at the Geneva Motor Show in March 2010.

If you have been following the Venom GT you know it was supposed to be powered by the Viper V10, as Hennessey has a good relation with the Viper brand. We also heard that it would be weighing in at 2700 lbs with a 1,000 horsepower ratting. Now we are hearing a little different, but better, story. Hennessey is now saying that the Venom GT will be powered by a “Hennessey V8” the weight is down to 2400 lbs and horsepower is up to 1,200 bhp. This spectacular looking mid-engine supercar will be able to deliver the goods, but will it make a real splash within the supercar world? That we’ll just have to wait and see…
