Toyota Moving Tacoma Production to San Antonio
Toyota has announced, last month, that they are shutting down the NUMMI plant in California. The fate of the cars built in that factory is now coming to light. Most notably for us in Texas is the movement of the Tacoma pickup to our own San Antonio plant. My San Antonio news has reported that city and county official’s estimate 100,000 Tacoma’s will roll out annually. Toyota has said they will be investing $100 million in retooling so that the plant can produce the trucks. This should add as many as 1,100 new jobs to the factory and bring new life into the San Antonio community.
