The Lexus LFA was teased for years, first hitting the rumor-mill back in 2005, to finally debut in 2009. Even with all that time to ponder the realization that Lexus would be manufacturing a supercar to rival the likes of Ferrari, Lamborghini, and the other big players, it still wasn’t enough time. When this car hit the show, auto show rounds, and started making the rounds on the track, it amazed everyone on just how well Lexus nailed this car.
Some gripe about the looks, but it’s not an ugly car by any means. Some gripe about the price, yet most of the 500 named to be produced have been spoken for.
With a body made of carbon fiber, and a V10 engine as light as most V6’s, this car weighs in at less than 3500 pounds. With that light weight and 500 horsepower from an engine that redlines at 9000 rpm, you can get this car from 0-60 in 3.7 seconds. The engine gains and loses revs so quickly that a digital tachometer had to be fitted to the instrument cluster. In fact, all interments are digital.
For just the madness alone, and the fact it’s come out of Lexus, that’s why the LFA is on our list.
