New 2023 Infiniti QX50 Sport AWD Review: Unleashing Power and Performance

The 2023 Infiniti QX50 Sport AWD is a compact luxury crossover and Infiniti’s entry-level crossover model with a starting price of $40,300. The Sport AWD trim is a new addition to the QX50 lineup and offers sporty design cues. Infiniti has enhanced the QX50 for 2023, providing more standard convenience features and introducing the INFINITI Premium Care package for added peace of mind.

On the exterior, the QX50 Sport AWD showcases Infiniti’s signature sculpted lines, swooping curves, and a wide, dynamic stance. The Sport trim adds specific design elements, including a sport front fascia, a sport “S” badge on the rear liftgate, black exterior accents, and 20-inch black painted and machine-finished wheels. Other exterior features include integrated LED front fog lights, aluminum roof rails, power-folding side mirrors, dual exhaust with chrome finish, black side window moldings, and a painted black front grille. The vehicle’s dimensions are 184.7 inches in length, with a wheelbase of 110.2 inches, a width of 85.1 inches, and a height of 66 inches.

In terms of cargo capacity, the QX50 Sport AWD provides 31.1 cubic feet of space behind the second row and 64.4 cubic feet with the second row folded. The vehicle also features a motion-activated liftgate for added convenience.

Under the hood, the QX50 Sport AWD boasts the world’s first mass-produced variable-compression turbocharged (VC-Turbo) engine. This 2.0-liter engine can seamlessly change its compression ratio to optimize fuel efficiency or power output based on the driver’s demands. It delivers an impressive 268 horsepower and 280 lb-ft of torque, paired with an XTRONIC transmission equipped with Downshift Rev Matching and standard paddle shifters for a more engaging driving experience.

Inside the vehicle, you’ll find Monaco Red semi-aniline leather-appointed seating and black aluminum interior trim, creating a luxurious and stylish ambiance. The QX50 Sport AWD comes equipped with advanced technology features such as an Around View Monitor with Moving Object Detection and a Bose® 12-speaker premium audio system.

In terms of fuel efficiency, the QX50 Sport AWD achieves 23 mpg in the city and 29 mpg on the highway with front-wheel drive or 22 mpg in the city and 28 mpg on the highway with all-wheel drive.

The QX50 Sport AWD starts at $50,000, and the reviewed vehicle has an MSRP of $52,815. Overall, the QX50 is a solid option for those seeking a compact crossover with generous cargo space, advanced tech features, and strong safety credentials.
