2024 Kia Seltos SX Turbo AWD: A Comprehensive Review
Today we embark on a journey through the 2024 Kia Seltos SX Turbo AWD, a noteworthy entry in Kia’s subcompact crossover lineup. Now, I must confess, I’ve had a long-standing relationship with this vehicle. I’ve had the pleasure (and sometimes displeasure) of driving it every year since its inception in 2021. Each time, it’s been the top-tier model, much like the one before us today. In fact, I’ve been known to express some rather candid opinions about the Seltos in the past. But fear not, for opinions can change as time goes by. So, what do I think about it now, you ask? Well, let’s dive right in, but first, a joke to lighten the mood: Why did the Seltos cross the road? To get to the other turbocharged side, of course! Now, let’s hit the road and explore the 2024 Seltos.
Trims include the LX, S, EX, X-Line, and the SX.
The 2024 Kia Seltos SX Turbo AWD comes in a striking Pluton Blue with a Fusion Black Roof, making it stand out on the road. It features an upgraded grille with LED positioning lights, LED projection headlights, and fog lights. While the stock version rides on 17-inch machine-finished alloy wheels, we have the 18-inch alloy wheels, adding to its sporty look. Roof rails, a rear spoiler, and rear privacy glass give it a touch of adventure. The heated outside mirrors with LED turn signals and LED rear combination lights make a statement.
While the power lift hatch is available, we don’t have it. Cargo volume is 26.6 cu.ft., and with the rear seats folded down, it expands to a generous 62.8 cu.ft.
The base engine is a 2.0L 4-cylinder naturally aspirated engine pushing 146 hp and 132 lb.ft of torque, paired with a CVT. Starting with the X-Line trim and up, you get the engine we have here, the 1.6-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine pushing 195 hp and 195 lb.ft. of torque, matched up to an 8-speed automatic transmission.
Inside, you’ll find black SynTex seat trim, a leather-wrapped sport steering wheel, and a shift knob. The Bose Premium Audio system with Sound Connected Mood Lamp enhances your driving experience.
The 2024 Seltos SX Turbo AWD is loaded with tech, including 10.25-inch dual panoramic displays, Apple CarPlay® & Android Auto™, and a wireless phone charger.
The Seltos offers Navigation-Based Smart Cruise Control – Curve, and its All-Wheel Drive with Torque Vectoring & Center Lock, Hill Start Assist Control, and Downhill Brake Control ensure you’re ready for various road conditions. It achieves an impressive 25 mpg city and 27 mpg highway, with a combined rating of 26 mpg.
The base LX starts at $24,390, while the SX has a base price of $29,990. However, our test vehicle, with a few options, can easily hit the $32k range.
So, after a full week and knowing a lot about the Seltos at this point, I can say it’s still not my favorite vehicle in the segment. That being said, I’m less offended by the little crossover now, though. It’s perfectly fine. Not great, not bad, just fine.
In conclusion, the 2024 Kia Seltos SX Turbo AWD offers a well-rounded package with an attractive exterior, a comfortable interior, and a decent set of features. It may not be a standout in its segment, but it’s a solid choice for those looking for a reliable and versatile subcompact crossover.
