ITALIAN CARFEST 2024
INTRO: If, in an e-mail from God, I was instructed to gather two of everything prior to a climate-related catastrophe, I’d attempt to repurchase my Italian pairings: two Fiats, two Alfas, two Moto Guzzis and two Ducatis – owned, for various periods of time – over the last 50 years. This, of course, would do nothing to save humanity, but would be huge in saving my vehicular sanity.
Of course, a simpler plan would be to simply enjoy the Italian CarFest on an annual basis. It comes to Grapevine’s Nash Farm every September, and remains a remarkable assemblage of most things Italian, beginning with Alfa Romeo and working its way through De Tomaso, Ferrari, Fiat, Lamborghini and Maserati. Of particular note in Paul Valentine’s photographic chronicle was – for me – Ferrari’s Mondial Cabriolet in burgundy, the green Pantera, that red Alfa Montreal, the ’59 Alfa 2000 Spider by Touring and the silver Fiat 850 Spider. Bikes and scooters were also displayed, and well represented by both Ducati and Vespa.
Thanks to Mr. Valentine for the pics, Karen Phillips and Richard Cross for keeping us informed, and the club organizers for their commitment to the automotive art form.
