2025 Ford Expedition Intro – A BIGGER, BETTER ‘TEX’PEDITION

2025 Ford Expedition Intro

A BIGGER, BETTER ‘TEX’PEDITION

We haven’t seen much from Ford at the State Fair of Texas in the past several years. Happily, that changed last week with a mammoth introduction of Ford’s 2025 Expedition, an intro more typical of what we used to see from Ford. The 2025 Expedition is all new, and fully redesigned for the family of the future. While it was hard to capture by photo, the aerial presentation was incredible – seeing hundreds of drones lighting up the sky with the talking points of the vehicle while Big Tex was speaking to the audience (this was late at night) was spectacular, to say the least. Three Expeditions were on display and when the covers came off there was a rush of folks to see it.

Notably, Trevor Scott did the presentation; his dad, Doug Scott, retired from Ford several years ago – he was a great supporter of the Texas market, and we all miss him.

Texas is Suburban territory (with the huge GM plant in Arlington), so it’s a hard fight to gain momentum in this segment. With that, to my eyes the new Expedition looks as good as a Suburban while the interior looks so upscale…kudos to the design team responsible for having done a great job.

The 2025 Expedition is based on the F-150 truck platform. As you’d know (and if you don’t know, Ford will tell you!), the F-150 has been the best-selling truck for 47 years. The new Expedition boasts more tech goodies, including Ford’s Connectivity® Package offering Wi-Fi Hotspots, Google Maps® podcasts, and video streaming.

From the software to the hardware: Expedition offers a 3.5-liter EcoBoost® V6 engine rated at 400 horsepower and 480 pound-feet of torque. A high output 3.5-liter EcoBoost® with 440 horsepower and 510 pounds-feet of torque is standard for the all-new Tremor model (boosting the Expedition’s off-road chops) and is available for the Platinum model. And inside, the new interior will meet the expectations of buyers looking for an all-new SUV. You just have to see it to believe how well it was thought out for families (or for making families – Ed.).

The new Expedition’s starting price is $61,700 and tops out over $80,000.
