2025 Acura ZDX – Acura’s Bold Electric Future Starts Now
With the debut of the 2025 Acura ZDX, the brand officially enters the electric vehicle market — and it’s coming in with a bold statement. Built on GM’s Ultium EV platform as part of a collaborative partnership, the ZDX combines Acura’s signature design language with cutting-edge electric powertrains and advanced technology. Available in both the performance-oriented Type S and more luxury-focused A-Spec trims, the ZDX brings the fight to Tesla, BMW, and Mercedes-Benz in the premium EV crossover segment.
Clean Design Meets Futuristic Tech
Visually, the ZDX strikes a confident stance with a coupe-like silhouette, Acura’s signature chicane lighting design, and a futuristic closed grille. Inside, it offers a sleek, tech-centric cabin with dual digital displays, premium materials, and intuitive controls.
The interior feels like a true next-gen Acura — blending the brand’s familiar sporty aesthetic with a minimalist approach to EV design. Expect available open-pore wood trim, metallic accents, and synthetic or premium leather upholstery, depending on the trim.
Powertrains and Performance
The 2025 ZDX comes in two key configurations:
- ZDX A-Spec
- Single-motor (RWD) or dual-motor (AWD)
- Estimated 340 horsepower
- Up to 325 miles of range (RWD)
- 0–60 mph in under 6 seconds (AWD)
- Single-motor (RWD) or dual-motor (AWD)
- ZDX Type S
- Dual-motor AWD only
- Estimated 500 horsepower
- Range of ~288 miles
- Adaptive air suspension
- Performance-tuned brakes and chassis
- Estimated 0–60 mph in the low 4s
- Dual-motor AWD only
The Type S is the most powerful production Acura ever made and is aimed squarely at performance-minded EV shoppers. Both models use GM’s Ultium battery pack and support DC fast charging up to 190 kW, enabling a 10–80% charge in roughly 30 minutes.
Tech Features and Driver Assistance
Inside the ZDX, Acura packs in a long list of tech and comfort features:
- 11.0-inch digital instrument cluster
- 11.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Google Built-In
- Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto
- Bang & Olufsen premium audio system
- Super Cruise hands-free driving assist (available on both trims)
- Head-up display, panoramic roof, wireless charging, and more
The integration of Super Cruise (via GM partnership) is a huge step for Acura, offering one of the best hands-free driving systems on the market.

First Drive Impressions at the Texas Auto Roundup
I had the opportunity to drive the 2025 Acura ZDX Type S at this year’s Texas Auto Writers Association (TAWA) Texas Auto Roundup, and I came away seriously impressed. The performance is strong, the styling is bold, and the interior feels premium and tech-forward. I wasn’t initially aware the ZDX shared its platform with the Chevy Blazer EV, but once I noticed the layout similarities and asked the Acura rep, it all made sense — in a good way. Acura’s tuning and presentation feel distinct, and the Super Cruise system worked flawlessly in my brief test. If this is what the future of Acura performance looks like, it’s off to a fantastic start.
