Only every once in a while does an opportunity like this come up. It’s not everyday an automotive icon sells one of his great cars of his own personal collection, but Steve Saleen has announced that his personal Ford GT will be up for auction.

Only every once in a while does an opportunity like this come up. It’s not everyday an automotive icon sells one of his great cars from his own personal collection, but has announced that his personal Ford GT will be up for auction.
This Ford GT isn’t just the standard factory car, as you might imagine. Built as a prototype, number five of nine built, this car is not titled and was made Saleen’s after his work on the project. It is said to have a hand-built twin-screw supercharger bolted to the famous 5.4 liter engine, the only prototype to have such a setup.
The Ford GT will be auctioned at the Russo and Steel auction at Monterey. We’ll be keeping an eye on what kind of money changes hands here.
