As the Scion FR-S becomes more popular it’s becoming harder to make the decision to buy into the Scion tC. The tC’s starting price is around $18,000 a big $7,000 cheaper than the FR-S, but the performance and quality make that $7k worth it.

This doesn’t keep Scion from milking what’s left of the tC though. You will soon be able to head to the dealer and pick up what Scion is calling a RS 8.0. This tC only comes in Absolutely Red with contrasting black mirrors and 18-inch alloy wheels. The exterior has been equipped with a more aggressive body kit from Five Axis, a company Scion has worked closely with for a long time now.

Performance numbers a boosted with some TRD parts including lowering springs and an exhaust system. The exhaust tip is integrated into the body kit and has a single exit placed in the middle of the rear bumper.

Inside the RS 8.0 features more sporty seats wrapped in texturized black fabric with red stitching. You also get the red stitching on the steering wheel, which is also equipped with paddle shifters when spec’d out as an automatic.

Each car comes with an individually numbered badge commemorating this unique model. Prices for this special Release Series start at $21,815 with manual or $22,865 with an auto.

This is much closer to the price of the FR-S so it will be interesting to see how many people jump to be one of 2,000 that will own this special Scion tC.
