2025 Honda Civic Hybrid – Efficiency Meets Everyday Fun
The Honda Civic has long been a staple in the compact car segment – and for good reason. It’s reliable, efficient, affordable, and surprisingly fun to drive. For 2025, Honda is doubling down on that legacy with a refreshed lineup that brings back the Civic Hybrid, now available in both sedan and hatchback form. This move signals Honda’s continued commitment to electrification while still keeping the Civic’s core identity intact.
A Familiar Look with a Modern Touch
Visually, the 2025 Civic doesn’t stray far from the previous model’s clean and athletic design. That’s a good thing. The current-gen Civic is already one of the best-looking compacts on the road. Subtle tweaks to the front fascia and lighting give it a slightly more upscale vibe, especially in the higher trims like the Sport Touring.
Inside, the Civic remains a standout. You get a horizontal dash layout, a digital instrument cluster on upper trims, and a user-friendly infotainment system. The Sport Touring trim comes standard with a 9-inch touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, Bose premium audio, and leather-trimmed seats — giving it a solid value proposition for those wanting a premium small car without jumping into luxury pricing.
Powertrains: Gas or Hybrid
The non-hybrid Civic continues with a pair of familiar engines:
- 2.0L naturally aspirated I4 (LX and Sport): 158 hp, CVT
- 1.5L turbocharged I4 (EX and Touring): 180 hp, CVT
But the big news is the 2025 Civic Hybrid, which is powered by the same two-motor hybrid system found in the current Accord and CR-V hybrids:
- 2.0L Atkinson-cycle I4 + two electric motors
- Total output: 200 hp and 232 lb-ft of torque
- eCVT transmission
- EPA-estimated 44–50 MPG, depending on trim and configuration
The hybrid is available in Sport Hybrid and Sport Touring Hybrid trims, giving buyers the option to go green without sacrificing features or driving fun.
Pricing
Here’s a quick look at the pricing (MSRP) for the 2025 Civic lineup:
- Civic LX: Starting around $24,000
- Civic Sport: Around $25,500
- Civic EX: Around $26,500
- Civic Touring: Around $30,500
- Civic Sport Hybrid: Expected around $28,000
- Civic Sport Touring Hybrid: Expected around $32,000
(Honda has not yet finalized all pricing for the hybrid trims at the time of writing.)
First Drive at the Texas Auto Roundup
I had the opportunity to drive the 2025 Honda Civic Hybrid Sport Touring at this year’s Texas Auto Writers Association (TAWA) Texas Auto Roundup, and it left a solid impression. While it didn’t feel overly sporty at first, switching into Sport mode really brought the hybrid system to life. I also drove it back-to-back with the new Kia K4, which offered more modern interior tech, but the Civic held its own with great comfort, proven reliability, and balanced driving dynamics.
Check out my quick video review from the Auto Roundup for more thoughts on the Civic Hybrid and how it compares to the competition. And stay tuned for more first-drive impressions from the event — we’ve got a whole lineup of exciting vehicles coming your way from TXGarage.
