2025 Kia K4 – A Bold New Chapter in Compact Sedans

Kia has officially retired the Forte name and replaced it with something entirely new — introducing the 2025 Kia K4. This all-new compact sedan brings upscale styling, advanced technology, and turbocharged performance to a segment that’s been quietly heating up. With an emphasis on bold design and a premium driving experience, the K4 looks to shake things up and redefine expectations in the compact class.

From Forte to Future

The K4 is a ground-up redesign and a clear evolution from the Forte. Kia has given the K4 a sleek, fastback-like silhouette, modern lighting signatures, and a commanding road presence that feels more mid-size than compact. In GT-Line Turbo trim, the K4 takes on a sportier edge with 18-inch alloy wheels, gloss black trim, amber LED DRLs, and aggressive front and rear fascias.

Inside, the K4 features a futuristic and tech-forward cabin layout. Upper trims come with dual 12.3-inch displays for infotainment and the driver cluster, a Harman Kardon premium audio system, ambient lighting, and wireless charging. Materials and layout feel a step above what you’d expect in this price range — an area where Kia continues to shine.

Powertrain Options

The 2025 Kia K4 offers two engine options:

  • 2.0L naturally aspirated I4 (in LX and LXS trims):
147 hp, paired with a CVT
  • 1.6L turbocharged I4 (in GT-Line Turbo trim):
190 hp and 195 lb-ft of torque, paired with an 8-speed automatic

The 1.6L turbo engine delivers smooth, responsive power and gives the K4 a playful personality without sacrificing comfort. While it’s not a full-on performance model like the GT trim seen on the K5, it hits a sweet spot between fun and functional.

Trim Levels & Pricing (Estimated)

  • K4 LX: Starting around $23,000
  • K4 LXS: Around $24,500
  • K4 EX: Around $26,500
  • K4 GT-Line: Around $28,000
  • K4 GT-Line Turbo: Expected around $31,000–$32,000

Exact pricing may vary depending on options and packages. Kia typically offers strong value at every trim level, and the GT-Line Turbo trim packs in features usually reserved for pricier rivals.

First Drive at the Texas Auto Roundup

I drove the 2025 Kia K4 GT-Line Turbo at the 2025 Texas Auto Writers Association (TAWA) Auto Roundup event, and I came away impressed. Kia’s design language here is striking, and behind the wheel, the turbocharged engine gives the K4 some real energy. I also drove the new Honda Civic Hybrid at the same event, and while the Civic shines in refinement and efficiency, the K4 wins on style, tech, and overall driving excitement. It’s easily one of the most compelling compact sedans I’ve driven recently.

Check out my quick video review for a closer look at the K4 GT-Line Turbo and how it stacks up in this highly competitive segment. And stay tuned for more coverage from the Auto Roundup — we’ve got plenty of first-drive impressions coming your way here at TXGarage.
