txGarage on the infield track at Texas Motor Speedway for the SRT Track Experience

Last week, we were invited to come out and experience the SRT Track Experience put on by the SRT division of Chrysler and the Richard Petty Driving School. This is a member’s only experience, hence to be involved, you must first purchase a SRT product. None of the staff at txGarage own any SRT products, but luckily, it’s more about who you know.

Let us first talk about what SRT stands for. SRT stands for Street and Racing Technology and is the high-performance divisions of Chrysler, Jeep, and Dodge. When you purchase any of these SRT products, this SRT Track Experience is included into the price; so if you don’t attend one of these events after buying your car, you’re definitely missing out. New NASCAR team to call Texas home

Leavine Fenton Racing is formed by a pair of Texas natives who will be competing in the 2011 NASCAR season. They will attempt six Cup races – including both races at Texas Motor Speedway – and three Truck events. Backed by Roush Fenway Racing and Roush Yates Engines, both vehicles will wear the #95.

Leavine owns a Texas based contacting company, WRL General Contractors Ltd., and has several years of racing background. Fenton is the owner of Fenton Motor Group in Tyler, Texas. He has raced and owned teams since the mid 80′s, but just recently made his debut in the Truck Series last year, with his best finish of 19th at Darlington.

We’ll keep you guys updated on their progress through the 2011 season and any other updates we get on Leavine Fenton Racing. Go Texas!

Texas Motor Speedway and the Samsung 500

We got an invite to the Samsung 500 at Texas Motor Speedway by our friends at Chevrolet. Although the race was rained out and the conditions were not the best, we managed to have a great time just hanging out with the folks from Chevy and some NASCAR greats!
We started the day in the Village of Champions where Chevy had set up shop. We played some fun games and checked out the cars even getting to race some laps of TMS – okay in a simulator. Next, we were treated to a small personal Q&A with three NASCAR drivers including Jamie McMaury, Ryan Newman and Tony Stewart. After the Q&A, it was time for a quick bite to eat, provided by Chevy. Then, the long journey to the pits! Not much was going on as it was drizzling the whole time. Everything was covered up and the only thing on the track were trucks trying, hopelessly, to dry it off. Walking up and down pit lane was still a cool experience though, as we got the opportunity to see cool sights like the Wall of Champions and the Garages behind the pits. After our exhausting journey back the the Chevy tents, we sat down and relaxed and talked with a few others fans out there until we heard the inevitable news that the race would be postponed until tomorrow.
All in all, we had a great time and this was my first time to visit TMS. Can’t wait till my next opportunity and hope to actually get to watch the race! Continue reading
